Mighty Minds Fiordland - A Night to Connect

Come and join us for 'A Night to Connect'.

Mighty Minds has been created to raise awareness around mental health, particularly here in the Fiordland community. Our aim is to de-stigmatise mental health and create an easy-to-access community mental health hub and first point of contact for those in need. As we all know, accessing mental health services or even knowing where to look for help can be very difficult and stressful.

'A Night to Connect' will have a little bit for everyone. Our guest speaker will be Matt Chisholm. Despite privately struggling with alcoholism and undiagnosed anxiety, Matt seemed to have it all. The rough and ready bloke from the deep south somehow landed his dream job on National television - first as a TV reporter - then as a reality TV host. But when his career really started taking off, he and his wife Ellen, started a family. It was the perfect storm and Matt hit the wall, becoming burnt out and depressed. So, how did he get himself better, and what did he learn by going public about his struggles? His stories will surprise you.

As a farmer, father, and rural bloke himself, Matt will have something for everyone to relate to, from young adults, tradies, parents, and all those in our urban and rural community.

There will be a free mocktail on arrival with canapès coming out shortly after. Following that, the bar will be open to purchase drinks as you please. All money raised from the night and the silent auction will go to 'Gumboot Friday', offering free counselling to young people (between 5-25 years old), which will help many young people in the Fiordland community. 

This Mighty Minds launch event will be followed up with our first "Active Together" community fun bike ride/run/walk on Sunday.
