Event description

Milad Sharqi - Oriental Christmas

You’re invited to Milad Sharqi, a nostalgic evening of culture, paired with beautiful Arabic and Syriac melodies.

Across the Middle East / SWANA region, Christmas is a way for us to come together, feasting with family, friends and loved ones. These gatherings are full of food, music and life. As diaspora living across continents, its traditions like this that keep us feeling connected to our communities. We feel that now more than ever, our community needs opportunities to gather, finding comfort in the songs and memories from our lands.

Milad Sharqi will be a space for healing in solidarity, featuring a traditional Palestinian dinner by Chef Aheda (menu below), as well as live music by Tarabeat, Jacinta, Taj, MzRizk and special guests, hosted by our friends at Free to Feed.

True to our culture, everyone is welcome - to us, we’re all connected, we’re all family.

EVENT ORGANISER
Meet Camille El Feghali, the creative force behind this event. Hailing from Lebanon, he made his way to Australia in 2019, bringing with him a love for traditional Arabic music and a deep desire to connect people. Camille is on a mission to blend the rich cultures of Middle Eastern traditions within the contemporary setting of today.

CHEF AHEDA
Aheda is happiest in her garden, surrounded by fresh home-grown ingredients, and flowers that she fondly refers to as her children. Bare-foot, her lush garden is a portal back home to her village in Palestine, a land she remembers fondly for its fertility, and for the people who tended to it in the same way she does today. A passionate cook, Aheda is known for her incredible dishes, bringing her memories and wisdom to the plates of all those she meets. Aheda creates a village wherever she goes.

Join us, as we bridge cultures, adapt traditions, and champion the diverse Middle Eastern communities that make our event a true reflection of our shared heritage.
