TOPIC: Mindfulness, Compassion, & Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy: Harnessing the Synergies

How might contemplative practices prepare us to use psychedelic medicines? How might they help us guide others? Can we use meditative practices during the sessions themselves? Might they help us integrate what arises in sessions afterwards? And how can psychedelics support our contemplative practice?

Refined over thousands of years in countless wisdom traditions, mindfulness and compassion practices can help us accept and integrate difficult mental contents and parts of ourselves, deconstruct our conventional sense of self, and connect us more deeply to others and the wider world—making them a powerful complement to psychedelic exploration.

Our Webinar Will Explore:

1. The varieties of contemplative practice that can augment psychedelics for psychological and spiritual growth and healing

2. How mindfulness and self-compassion practice can prepare us for psychedelic journeys

3. The skills we need to effectively guide psychedelic sessions and how contemplative practices can cultivate them

4. How meditative practices can support us during psychedelic sessions and make them more fruitful

5. The use of mindfulness and self-compassion practices to integrate insights from psychedelic journeys

6. How psychedelics can kindle transpersonal experiences, making them more accessible in meditation practice

7. The dangers of spiritual bypass in psychedelic work

MEDICINAL PSYCHEDELIC TREATMENTS

Psychedelic-assisted treatments offer enormous potential in providing a meaningful alternative to current treatments for mental illness. PTSD is a debilitating condition that affects tens of millions of people worldwide, with many more trauma victims diagnosed with comorbid conditions such as depression, anxiety and eating disorders. In recent clinical trials, MDMA has been shown to produce reliable clinical improvements, restoring patient safety and self-agency even for individuals who have suffered with PTSD for many years, and for whom many treatments have failed.

The wave of clinical psychedelic research and regulatory support is rapidly building, with experts forecasting the availability of psychedelic-assisted treatments in the US and EU within the next 2 to 5 years, subject to positive clinical outcomes in large trials that are currently underway.
