Event description

Mindful Movement - Unwind, Untangle, Connect

A space to move with yourself and others, let go of the day, and discover body-based ways to support wellbeing.

These sessions are led by counsellor and dance movement therapist in training, Kirby Mackrill, and borrow from dance movement therapy, somatic work and mindfulness practices. We will move together in community, understanding the benefits of connection to our collective and individual wellbeing. People will be invited to move in ways that are supportive and comfortable for them, without pressure, expectation or judgement.

You will be gently guided through a body based warm up to help transition from your day, release tension and connect to this moment. We will then explore movement and music that helps to cultivate understanding and build alignment within, before closing with nourishing grounding practices.

All abilities and ages are welcome. No dance experience required. Please wear clothes you are comfortable moving in and layers to be warm. No other equipment necessary.

Dates and Times: Classes run monthly on the fourth Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm from April to December (third Tuesday of December). You are welcome to arrive from 5:45pm.

Venue: Minor Works Building Community Centre, 22 Stamford Court, Adelaide

We acknowledge that we move, live and come together upon the traditional and unceded lands of the Kaurna people. We pay our respect and deepest gratitude to elders past and present. We acknowledge too that First Nations people all over the world have been dancing and moving for wellbeing and community for thousands and thousands of years, long before modern Western based practices began. May we all move compassionately and mindfully on these sacred lands.
