Join our Zorali Outdoor Club Mindful Overnighter, hosted by Gabriella & Harriet 🌿
Where: Meet at Fern Burn Hut carpark
When: Saturday, March 21 – Sunday, March 22
Time: Meet at 1:00 PM for a 1:15 PM start
Distance: 7km from trailhead to camp (approx. 3–4 hours)
Elevation: 720m
Return time: Sunday 2:00 PM
Join Gabriella & Harriet for a mindful overnighter where adventure meets stillness.
Together, you’ll hike 7km to Fern Burn Hut, arriving at camp to pitch tents and settle in as a group. Once there, the pace softens, with space for connection, guided breath work, gentle stretching, and an optional cold dip for those feeling brave.
A weekend to slow down, move your body, and reconnect, with nature and each other.
Itinerary Overview
Day 1 – Saturday 21st March
Meet: 1:00 PM at Fern Burn Hut Carpark
Walk along the Motatapu Track to Fern Burn Hut • 7km, 720m elevation gain
5:30pm: Arrive at camp, set up
6-7:30pm: Optional dip & breath work
8pm: Hang out, dinner, enjoy the sunset!
Day 2 – Sunday 22nd March
Time TBC: 1 hour stretch and breath work to start the day
Breakfast, pack up, make our way back to the carpark
2pm: Arrive back to the car park
What to Bring
Backpack with overnight gear
Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat
3-4L Water
Meals:
Breakfast x1
Lunch x2
Dinner x1
Snacks for during hikes
Layers of clothing (prepare for cold nights and warm hiking days)
Rain jacket (weather can change quickly)
Headtorch (for night walk back from sunset hike)
Personal first aid kit
Toiletries (including toilet paper)
Hiking boots with good grip
Trekking poles (optional for steep sections)

Fitness Expectations
An average level of fitness is required. The 7km hike includes some steep sections and areas that are slightly exposed.
We’ll move at a steady, comfortable pace and take our time, adapting to the group where needed. The goal is to enjoy the journey, not rush it.
To ensure attendees have a safe and enjoyable experience, we have limited numbers to 10 hikers – RSVP now to secure your place!

Gabriella is a Zorali Trailblazer and our resident Kiwi, a true adventure-seeker through and through. Whether she’s exploring far-flung corners of the world or soaking up the natural beauty of her backyard in Wānaka, she’s rarely without her camera, capturing the magic of the outdoors along the way.
Harriet is a qualified Breathwork & Meditation Practitioner trained by Cool2BeConscious. She’s passionate about blending outdoor adventure with mindfulness practices, helping others slow down, reconnect and be fully present in nature.
