Whether you are a complete beginner looking for simple strategies for making life a little easier, or you are wanting to refresh, restart or deepen your mindfulness or meditation practice, this is for you.

These workshops are both an introduction and a refresher that will deepen your understanding of mindfulness practice and its application to daily life.



Workshop 1 – [9.30am–12pm] – What is Mindfulness and How Do We Practice? 

Learn and practice:

The foundations and fundamentals of mindfulness

The seven points of the posture and four postures of meditation

This workshop will begin with an introduction to mindfulness, each other, guided meditation and intention setting. Sharn will then invite you to practice 'noble silence' and offer instruction and guidance that will immerse you in the practice of mindful sitting, walking and reclining meditation and give you tips and strategies for bringing mindfulness to daily life. The workshop will conclude with an opportunity to reflect, have your questions answered and know how and what you want to continue practicing.

Workshop 2 – [12.15 – 1.45pm] – Mindful Lunch

Learn and practice tips and strategies for mindful eating that you can bring to life every day. Once Sharn has introduced you to the purpose and practice of mindful eating and answered your questions, you will be invited to enjoy a silent mindful lunch. The session will end with Q&A and guided meditation.

Workshop 3 – [2 – 4.30pm] – Befriending Time with Mindfulness

Learn how to:

  • let go of rushing and worrying
  • transform procrastination into productivity
  • find calm in the midst of chaos

Building on the fundamentals and practices presented in Part 1 &/or Part 2, &/or in your previous practice experience, this workshop will engage you in reflective activities and practices that reveal how when you make time for mindfulness, mindfulness makes time for you.

FAQs

Does it matter if I am completely new to mindfulness and meditation? Not at all. Whether you are completely new to the concept and practice of mindfulness or have been working with it for years, this day of guided practice will respond to where you’re at.

Why do I have a choice about what I pay? Sharn is committed to practicing generosity and honouring the kindness and wisdom of her teachers by making what she has learned from her decades of study and practice available free or as free as you want it to be. Generosity is a practice of giving and receiving without attachment or expectation. Please feel free to pay whatever you feel free to give.

Can I pay by EFT or by cash on the day? YES. When you 'Get Your Ticket' simply enter $0 to secure your place then email to request EFT details or bring an envelope with your gift of cash on the day.

What do I need to bring? An open heart and an open mind. A water bottle. A hat and sunblock for walking outdoors. Notebook/journal and pen.

Do I need to sit on the floor? No. There will be a be a chair there for you if you need or prefer it. 

What do I wear? Loose, comfortable clothing - suitable for sitting and/or lying on floor and shoes that are easily slipped off and on.

Is lunch included in the ticket price? When you purchase the FULL DAY ticket or choose the 'Lunch Provided' ticket for Workshop 2, a delicious, nutritious, vegetarian lunch will be provided. NB. Please advise any special dietary requirements.

Is the program religious? No. The program is entirely secular. However, as well as being a scholar of contemporary mindfulness research and practice, and a certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Calm Abiding Meditation instructor, Sharn's teaching is informed by more than 20 years of studying traditional Buddhist texts and receiving instruction from some of the most distinguished meditation masters of our time, including the Dalai Lama and Thich Nhat Hanh.

Is this a silent retreat? Yes and No. There will be periods of silence, including for guided mindfulness meditation practice and opportunities to talk and interact.
