Workshop 1 – [9.30am–12.15pm] – What is Mindfulness and How Do We Practice?

Learn and practice:

Self-awareness and Self Compassion
The foundations and fundamentals of mindfulness
The seven points of the posture and four postures of meditation
Simple effective strategies for reducing stress, overwhelm and overthinking, and being more mindful wherever you are.

This workshop will begin with an introduction to mindfulness, each other, guided meditation, reflection and intention setting. Sharn will invite you to practice 'noble silence' and offer instruction and guidance that will immerse you in the practice of mindful sitting, walking and reclining meditation and give you tips and strategies for bringing mindfulness to daily life. The workshop will conclude with an opportunity to reflect, have your questions answered and know how and what you want to continue practicing.

Workshop 2 – [12.15 – 1.45pm] – Mindful Lunch

A mindful lunch is a simple effective way to give yourself a break every day and renew focus and energy. Learn and practice tips and strategies for mindful eating, enjoy a mindful lunch with time to rest and digest and have your questions answered.

Workshop 3 – [2 – 4.30pm] – Mindfulness of Time and Relationships

Learn and practice tips and techniques for:

Finding calm in the midst of inner and outer chaos and emotional reactivity
Letting go of rushing and worrying and transform procrastination into productivity
Nourishing your innate capacity to give the gift of non-judgmental presence to whoever and whatever life has to offer.

Building on the fundamentals and practices presented in Part 1 &/or Part 2, &/or your previous practice experience, this workshop will engage you in reflective activities and practices that reveal how making time for mindfulness makes time for you and your relationships.

This short day of mindfulness in 3 Parts will return you to yourself – giving you the quiet, space and time to reconnect with the inner voice of love and understanding that knows just how you want to proceed.

FAQs

Does it matter if I am completely new to mindfulness and meditation? Not at all. Whether you are completely new to the concept and practice of mindfulness or have been working with it for years, this day of guided practice will respond to where you’re at.

Why do I have a choice about what I pay? Sharn is committed to an ethic of inclusion, practicing generosity and honouring the kindness and wisdom of her teachers by making what she has learned from her decades of study and practice available free or as free as you want it to be. Generosity is a practice of giving and receiving without attachment or expectation. Please feel free to pay whatever you feel free to give. Ticket prices are capped at the usual per person fee.

Can I pay by EFT or by cash on the day? YES. When you 'Get Your Ticket' simply enter $0 to secure your place then email to request EFT details or bring an envelope with your gift of cash on the day.

What do I need to bring? An open heart and an open mind. A yoga mat and a firm cushion. Notebook/journal and pen. A water bottle. A hat and sunblock for walking outdoors. A packed lunch.

Do I need to sit on the floor? No. There will be a be a chair there for you if you need or prefer it.

What do I wear? Loose, comfortable clothing - suitable for sitting and/or lying on floor and shoes that are easily slipped off and on.

Is lunch included in the ticket price? No. If you are attending the FULL DAY or Workshop 2 only or in combination with Workshop 1 or 3, please bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee making facilities will be provided.

Is the program religious? No. The program is entirely secular. However, as well as being a scholar of contemporary mindfulness research and practice, and a certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Calm Abiding Meditation instructor, Sharn's teaching is informed by more than 20 years of studying traditional Buddhist texts and receiving instruction from some of the most distinguished meditation masters of our time, including Thich Nhat Hanh, the Dalai Lama and Mingyur Rinpoche.

Is this a silent retreat? Yes and No. There will be periods of silence, including for guided mindfulness meditation practice and opportunities to talk and interact.
