Mini Farmers Thursdays - Term 3, 2026

Join us for Farm Kids Thursdays in Term 3 2026, a fun and immersive nature-based program designed for children aged 5–12 who love hands-on learning. Families can book single sessions or enjoy a discounted rate when booking the full 8-week term. Each week, children will explore the wonders of farm life through creative arts, scientific experiments, garden projects and more!

This term, Farm Kids will become biodiversity guardians as we explore the insects, birds, reptiles and native animals that help a farm thrive. Through hands-on investigations, creative projects, nature journalling and practical farm experiences, children will discover how pollinators, pest controllers, seed spreaders, habitat builders, decomposers and predators all contribute to a healthy living ecosystem.

What Children Will Experience

• Nature walks and biodiversity observation

• Butterfly hatching and life-cycle learning

• Beeswax candle making

• Bug Olympics and beneficial insect exploration

• Seed dispersal experiments and seed ball making

• Bird sit spots, sound maps and habitat mapping

• Compost creature investigations and decomposition experiments

• Lizard lounge building and food web games

9am - 3pm

Weeks 1-2: Pollinators: Tiny Creatures, Big Jobs

Children explore the role of bees, butterflies and other flower visitors in growing food, supporting flowering plants and maintaining biodiversity on a regenerative farm.

Children may encounter or discuss: Native stingless bees/sugarbag bees, blue-banded bees, honey bees, butterflies, moths, hoverflies and beetles.

Weeks 3-4: Nature's Pest Patrol

Children investigate the creatures that help keep pest populations in balance, learning that healthy farms work with natural predators rather than trying to control everything artificially.

Children may encounter or discuss: Ladybirds, spiders, praying mantids, skinks, frogs, parasitic wasps and insect-eating birds.

Weeks 5-6: Seed Spreaders & Habitat Builders

Children explore how seeds travel and how wildlife needs safe homes, movement corridors, food, water and shelter to support a resilient farm ecosystem.

Children may encounter or discuss: Lorikeets, rosellas, currawongs, bowerbirds, brush turkeys, possums, flying foxes, wallabies and other local wildlife.

Weeks 7-8: Nature's Clean-Up Crew & Predators

Children discover that rot, decay, poo, predators and scavengers are essential parts of a healthy living system. The term ends by connecting soil life, food webs, reptiles, birds of prey and farm balance.

Children may encounter or discuss: Worms, fungi, ants, beetles, dung beetles, blue-tongue lizards, goannas, carpet pythons, kookaburras, owls and raptors.

9am – 3pm | ages 5 to 12 yrs
$700 Term Booking (8 sessions - receive a 33% discount)
$130 per individual day session

What to bring
Children will need:

• Sturdy walking shoes

• Raincoat

• Sunhat

• Healthy lunch box and water bottle for the day

• Backpack (to carry above)

• All items need to be labelled

Where to meet
We will meet at the Farm House opposite the restaurant. Please look out for the signs to guide you.

Ages
These workshops are appropriate for children who are interested in farming, energetic and willing to work. Ages 5 to 12 years.

Extra Service
If you are a working parent please discuss with the Farm Kids Manager if you need your child to start early or finish later than the designated program time so as to get to and from work. For an extra fee this can be arranged.
