OFFICIAL COMPETITION RULES

Welcome to the 2027 Harcourt–Castlemaine Mini Golf Masters at the World of Woop Woop, Harcourt.

The competition consists of one official 9-hole round. Every stroke counts, and the player with the lowest verified total score wins.

By entering the competition, all players agree to the following Official Competition Rules.

1. COMPETITION FORMAT

The Mini Golf Masters consists of one official 9-hole competition round. Players must complete Holes 1 through 9 in the designated order unless instructed otherwise by a Tournament Official.

The player's verified scores from all 9 holes will be added together to determine their final competition score.

The player with the lowest total score wins, subject to the playoff rules where two or more players are tied.

2. ENTRY

Entry is $20 per player and includes one official competition round. Online booking, ticketing and credit card processing fees, where applicable, are additional to the $20 entry fee.

Each player must be officially registered before beginning their round. Each player may complete one official competition round only.

Players cannot purchase additional entries or replay the course in an attempt to improve their competition score.

Entries and official scorecards cannot be transferred between players.

3. SCORING

Every stroke counts as one shot. There is no maximum number of strokes per hole. Players must continue until the ball is successfully holed.

Any penalty strokes incurred under these rules are added to the player's score for that hole. The verified scores from all 9 holes are added together to determine the player's final competition score. Lowest total score wins.

4. TOURNAMENT OFFICIAL AT EVERY HOLE

Each of the 9 competition holes will have a designated Tournament Official. The Tournament Official will observe the player completing the hole and confirm the number of strokes taken.

At the completion of each hole, the Tournament Official will record or verify the player's score and sign off on that score. A player's score for a hole does not become official until it has been signed off by the Tournament Official responsible for that hole.

Once signed off, a player must not alter the score recorded on their scorecard.

5. OFFICIAL SCORECARDS

Every registered player will receive an official competition scorecard before beginning their round. The scorecard must accompany the player throughout their 9-hole round and be presented to the Tournament Official at each hole. Each of the 9 scores must be signed off by the Tournament Official responsible for that hole.

After completing Hole 9, the player must submit their scorecard to the designated scoring area. The scorecard will be checked to ensure:

  • All 9 holes have been completed.

  • All 9 scores have been signed off by Tournament Officials.

  • Any applicable penalties have been included.

  • The total score has been calculated correctly.

Only a fully completed and verified scorecard will be accepted as an Official Competition Score.

6. PLAYING THE COURSE

Players must begin each hole from the designated starting position. The ball must be played through the normal layout and direction of the hole.

Players may not deliberately move, reposition or interfere with their ball to gain an advantage except where specifically permitted under these rules. Practice shots are not permitted during an official competition round.

A player cannot replay a completed hole unless instructed to do so by a Tournament Official.

Ball Against a Wall or Obstruction

If a player's ball comes to rest against a wall, edge, barrier or other fixed obstruction and there is not enough room to make a normal putting stroke, the ball may be moved up to one putter-head length — approximately 11 cm — away from the obstruction. The ball must not be moved closer to the hole.

There is no penalty stroke for this adjustment. The ball may only be moved far enough to allow a normal putting stroke and cannot be repositioned to deliberately create an easier line to the hole. The Tournament Official at that hole must approve or supervise the repositioning of the ball.

Ball Leaving the Playing Surface

If a player's ball is hit and leaves the designated playing surface, the ball will be returned to the playing surface at the point where it left the course. The ball may be placed up to one putter-head length — approximately 11 cm — away from any wall, edge or obstruction where necessary to allow a normal putting stroke. The ball must not be moved closer to the hole. All strokes already played on that hole still count, and a one-stroke penalty will be added for the ball leaving the playing surface. The player then continues playing the hole from the approved replacement position.

Example: If a player's second shot leaves the playing surface, the first two strokes count, a one-stroke penalty is added, and the player's next shot is their fourth stroke.

The Tournament Official at the hole will confirm where the ball is replaced and record the penalty.

7. FAIR PLAY

All players are expected to compete fairly and respect other competitors, Tournament Officials, spectators and the course.

Deliberate cheating, changing a signed score, interfering with another player's ball, deliberately altering the course or attempting to gain an unfair advantage may result in disqualification.

Players must follow reasonable directions given by Tournament Officials.

8. LIVE LEADERBOARD

A Live Leaderboard will operate throughout the competition. The leading verified scores and players' names will be displayed and updated as official scorecards are submitted and checked.

Only verified scores will appear on the leaderboard. Leaderboard positions displayed during the day are provisional until competition play has finished and all relevant scorecards have been checked.

Players are encouraged to check the Live Leaderboard before leaving the World of Woop Woop, particularly if they have recorded a competitive score. This allows players to see whether they may potentially be involved in a playoff.

9. PLAYOFF RULES

When a playoff is required: If two or more players finish with the same score for a prize-winning position, a three-hole playoff will determine the winner.

The playoff will be played on:

Hole 7
Hole 8
Hole 9

The official playoff period will be between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm.

10. THREE-HOLE PLAYOFF

Players involved in the tie who are present will replay Holes 7, 8 and 9.

Tournament Officials will observe and verify the playoff scores. The player's strokes across the three holes will be added together to create their Playoff Score.

The player recording the lowest combined Playoff Score wins.

All normal competition rules, including penalty strokes and ball-positioning rules, continue to apply during the playoff.

11. PLAYERS WHO ARE NOT PRESENT

Players do not have to remain at the venue for the entire day. However, players who have recorded a competitive score are strongly encouraged to check the Live Leaderboard before leaving and to be present during the 3:30–4:00 pm playoff period.

If a player involved in a tie is not present when the playoff is called, that player will not be disqualified because they have left the venue. Instead, their original competition scores from Holes 7, 8 and 9 will be added together. That total automatically becomes their Playoff Score.

Example If the absent player's original scores were:

Hole 7 — 2
Hole 8 — 2
Hole 9 — 3

Their Playoff Score is 7. That score remains their Playoff Score throughout any further playoff rounds.

12. IF THE PLAYOFF IS STILL TIED

If two or more players remain tied after the first three-hole playoff, the players who are present and remain tied will play Holes 7, 8 and 9 again.

A new combined three-hole Playoff Score will be recorded for those players. If another tie occurs, Holes 7, 8 and 9 will be played again.

This process will continue until one player records the lowest Playoff Score and a winner is determined. Any tied player who is not present continues to carry their original combined competition score from Holes 7, 8 and 9 as their Playoff Score during each subsequent playoff round.

Example: An absent player's Playoff Score is 6. A present player also scores 6 in the first playoff, so the tie continues.

The present player plays Holes 7, 8 and 9 again. If they score 5, they win. If they score 6, the tie continues and the three holes are played again. If they score 7, the absent player's score of 6 wins. The process continues until the tie is broken.

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES

13. PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded according to the prize categories officially advertised for the event.

The $1,000 First Prize will be awarded to the player who records the lowest verified competition score or wins the playoff where a tie occurs.

Players must satisfy the competition entry requirements and these Official Competition Rules to be eligible for a prize.

14. SCORING DISPUTES

If a player disagrees with a score or ruling made by a Tournament Official, the matter should be raised before leaving that hole wherever reasonably possible. Once a score has been confirmed and signed off by the Tournament Official, it becomes the official score for that hole.

Obvious addition or recording errors discovered when the final scorecard is checked may be corrected where the signed individual hole scores clearly establish the correct total. The competition organiser's decision regarding the application of the competition rules, scoring and results will be final, subject to applicable law.

15. PACE OF PLAY

Players are expected to maintain a reasonable pace of play. Players should be ready to play when it is their turn and must follow directions from Tournament Officials regarding the order and flow of play.

Players must not unnecessarily delay other competitors.

16. CHILDREN & SUPERVISION

Children may participate subject to any age requirements or prize categories advertised for the event. Children must be appropriately supervised by a parent, guardian or responsible adult while at the venue.

17. CONDUCT & SAFETY

Players and spectators must behave responsibly and follow venue and Tournament Official safety instructions. Dangerous, abusive, deliberately disruptive or seriously inappropriate behaviour may result in a player being disqualified or a person being asked to leave the competition area.

Players and spectators must not deliberately damage or interfere with the mini golf course, equipment or surrounding property.

18. PHOTOGRAPHY & EVENT PROMOTION

Photography and video may be taken during the Mini Golf Masters for event coverage and future promotion.

Where required, appropriate permission will be obtained for identifiable promotional use, particularly in relation to children.

19. WEATHER & UNEXPECTED CIRCUMSTANCES

The organisers may delay, suspend, modify or cancel part of the competition where reasonably necessary because of severe weather, safety concerns, course damage or circumstances outside their reasonable control.

Where possible, any decision will be made with the aim of maintaining a safe and fair competition.

20. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

By purchasing an entry and participating in the 2027 Harcourt–Castlemaine Mini Golf Masters, players acknowledge that they have read, understood and agree to follow these Official Competition Rules.

Tournament Officials are there to ensure every player competes under the same rules and every official score is properly verified.
