Minto Community Services: Mental Health Drive
Event description
Mental illness, also called mental health disorders, refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behaviour. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviours, often referred to as psychosocial disorders.Â
Academic researchers have agreed that COVID-19 has sparked or amplified much more serious mental health problems, with a number of people having reported psychological distress and symptoms of depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress.
At Minto Community Services, we are passionate about Mental Health and ensuring that our community is aware of the services available to assist and support people with mental illness, including support for carers and families. We understand the complexity in navigating community mental health services, NDIS service providers and Government support.Â
Join Favour, founder of Minto Community Services as she discusses the barriers for families struggling with support for mental illness. Favour is a psychiatric nurse with over 15 years of mental health experience. Listen to Damien founder of Focused Mental Education speak about wellbeing and mental health education.
Our event is not only an opportunity for people to meet with services and providers, it is also an opportunity for people to learn about mental health and how to support their loved ones.Â
