Event description

This performance has a few tickets remaining!  (As at 6am on 19 June)

The Sydney Children’s Choir returns to the stage with a program of exquisite choral works including the world premiere of new works by Sam Weiss, the choir’s Composer Fellow. Commissioned in 2020, these works tell stories of love and hope in the face of great adversity.

Deine Mami (‘Your Mami’) is a poem written by Weiss’ great-grandmother to her daughter Nelly on the eve of the Second World War. The choir sings of a mother’s love for her daughter, while also capturing the gloom and nervousness in pre-war Germany.

In’Shal-Om for male voices is a prayer for peace and coexistence, bringing together languages and prayers of the Islamic, Hindu, Jewish and Christian faiths in a powerful expression of shared humanity.

There Are Always Miracles is a piece inspired by the words of 101-year-old Holocaust survivor, motivational speaker and author Eddie Jaku in his recent book ‘The Happiest Man on Earth’, whose story and outlook on life has been an inspiration to many, especially in the Sydney community.

Be uplifted by the voices of the Sydney Children’s Choir in a night of transformative choral music.
