The Miracles of Nature: Early Baroque Music for Cornetts and Sackbutts
Description
Be transported to the 16th and 17th centuries, with an ensemble of historical brass instruments performing music from the early baroque. Accompanied by the chamber organ, the cornett and sackbutt — ancestors of the modern trumpet and trombone, albeit with a distinctive sound of their own — come to life in the hands of some of Sydney’s most accomplished early music specialists. The concert features works by composers of the early Baroque including Girolamo Frescobaldi, Dario Castello and Giovanni Cima.
St John’s Twilight concert series are designed as free events so that everyone can enjoy the experience. However, if you are able, we do greatly appreciate donations of any amount to support this ongoing project (including artist fees and administrative costs).
