MIRROR CLIPPERS DEBUT ALBUM LAUNCH at CACTUS ROOM with SAN + MOTORIN + SNAILGUN
Event description
Two-piece rock band MIRROR CLIPPERS are launching their much anticipated DEBUT ALBUM on SATURDAY 25th of October 2025 at CACTUS ROOM, 614 High St, Thornbury with supports from SAN + MOTORIN + SNAILGUN
MIRROR CLIPPERS are drummer and concept creator Daniel Brates and singer-songwriter/guitarist Adrien Siboulet (aka SiB).
Somewhere between CAN, BEAK> and Thee Oh Sees, Mirror Clippers carve out a sound that is intricate yet heavy, hypnotic yet tender. Based in Preston (Naarm/Melbourne), the duo fuse psych, doom, krautrock, and avant-garde into a two-piece storm of fuzz-driven power rock. Daniel anchors drums and synth, while Adrien simultaneously plays guitar and bass through an original hybrid instrument — a uniquely Melbourne-made creation nicknamed The Gass.
Together they generate a force that feels larger than the sum of its parts: a sound that lifts you beyond the stars and drags you back to earth in a single breath. It’s a mix of intensity and fragility — mirror shards reflecting guilt, joy, longing, and the search for release.
For Daniel, Mirror Clippers is more than just a name: it’s a concept, a gesture, a way of moving, bleeding, head-banging, and purging. The band embodies both catharsis and fun, unleashing demons alongside joys, always together, always loud.
Fuelled by a shared obsession with psychedelic garage, stoner, and punk bands from across eras and continents, Mirror Clippers thrive on musical tension and release, deep grooves, sweet heavy tones, and kaleidoscopic contrasts.
Their self-titled debut album explores themes of relationships, trolling, unreciprocated love, death, betrayal, and the grief of lost ways — all while reaching for meaning in the abstract. Heavy yet ethereal, it’s a record that sits in the body as much as in the mind.
Formed in June 2023, Mirror Clippers recorded the album live to tape in just one day (27.09.2023) at Soundpark Studios in Northcote with Andrew Hehir (aka Idge). Vocals were overdubbed and mixed by Jules Pascoe (Jazz Party, Ruby Jones), with mastering handled by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring) in October 2024.
Having cut their teeth headlining many of Melbourne’s most beloved live music venues, Mirror Clippers are now set to release and celebrate their debut LP at their favourite haunt, Cactus Room.
SAN - SAN are a newgaze quartet from Naarm, attempting to soundtrack the end of the world. A blend of melodic textures, ethereal vocals, and walls of harsh noise: songs to gaze into the void to.
MOTORIN - The disgruntled throttle-rock engine of Motorin (formerly MotorInn) return to Melbourne’s stages after a short hiatus, taking the grid with a new lineup. With blues stalwart TK “Kick-off” Reeve and the “Bastard of Baritone” Billy LaBek still at the helm, they welcome Travis “The Wheels” Akers of former Fall of the Union fame into the fray on the bottom end. With a special guest drummer taking the "batterie" for Motorin’s return, get ready for some re-styled garage/boogie/chooglin’ psych in the Motorin’s favourite Melbourne garage - The Cactus Room
SNAILGUN - Snailgun is a three piece post punk/noise rock band featuring aggressive and clangy guitars with catchy hooks and rhythmic grooves. For fans of bands like Shellac, The Jesus Lizard, Girls Against Boys, Gang of Four, Dinosaur Jr, SST, Dischord records and late 70s post punk. We have been told we sound like Future of the Left, Hot Snakes, and Polvo and didn't object to these comparisons.
