Mirror Mentorship 2025 Launch!
Event description
Think+DO Tank Foundation and Scribble Books are proud to announce that our MIRROR Mentorship program has received funding by Creative Australia to run again in 2025. MIRROR is a unique program for emerging bilingual writers and illustrators in kids’ literature, providing year-long mentorship with established figures in the field, publishing masterclasses, industry networking opportunities and a $4,000 stipend.Â
In its first year, MIRROR winners included Afsaneh Khoramshani, Audrey Villafana, and You Mu Amy Ge, who were mentored by artists AÅ›ka, Sher Rill Ng, and Dinalie Dabarera respectively. These extraordinary young women produced singular leporellos and went on to secure agent representation as well as publishing opportunities.Â
Our new program is open for submissions from July 29th to September 18th. To learn more or to apply, visit our website: www.mirror.org.au
To celebrate the success of our inaugural winners and our new program, we will be holding a launch event at the State Library NSW on September 18th, in the Dixson Room, at 6pm. You'll hear from TDTF CEO Jane Stratton, Scribble Kids Publisher Miriam Rosenbloom, and Scribble Art Director Guy Ivison about Australian children's literature and their hopes for the program; you'll see the beautiful work produced by inaugural winners Afsaneh Khoramshani, Audrey Villafana, and You Mu Amy Ge; and take part in a Q&A with past and current mentors Dinalie Dabarera, Sher Rill Ng, and Zeno Sworder.Â
This will be followed by complimentary drinks and nibbles at the Library Bar.
The Mirror Mentorship program has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body.
