Misc pres. 10 Years of Motion ward feat. perila, Hysterical Love Project, Takeo.K, J, JS
Event description
Miscellania presents 𝟏𝟎 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐝, featuring the debut naarm show for contemporary ambient visionary 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐚.
The brilliant Los Angeles based label 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐝 was founded by Jesse Sapell (𝐉𝐒), and has been an integral part of the connective tissue between a number of hard-to-define sonic spaces. The 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐝 sound is foggy, diaphanous, and hypnotic -- oozing between reduced dub textures, post-rock structures, trip-hop affine rhythms, and downtempo moods. It's slippery to define with words, but the sound of and the nebula it inhabits is quickly recognisable open listening. They've released landmark records from perpetual Misc favourites and past guests including Ulla, Special Guest DJ (as uon) and Hysterical Love project.
Over the last few years, 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐚 has become a pivotal force in experimental music. The St. Petersburg-born, Berlin-based sound and visual artist, DJ, performer and poet blurs the confines of form and genre, using texture, negative space, noise, and space has her tools. She harmonises the body-altering, tangible sonic sensibilities of musique concrète with her deep attunement to song and spirit; prolifically releasing her compelling and unique output on legendary labels including The Trilogy Tapes, Shelter Press, Boomkat Editions, and Smalltown Supersound.
𝐇𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 will play their final live show "for the foreseeable future", full of new songs and sounds. The duo of Ike Zwanikken and Brooklyn Mellar are certified Bandcamp legends, flirting between genre spaces of trip-hop, downtempo and dream pop. Together, they write songs and craft sounds of endless emotional resonance.
Emerging icon 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐨.𝐊 rounds out the lineup, riding a gradually coalescing storm of momentum after a string of recent stellar live performances. Shoegaze-tilted electronics for the discerning yearner.
Early interstitial DJing by sentimental music lynchpin 𝐉 of Se Dessaisir / Daisart fame, with late-evening and closing selections from Motion Ward boss 𝐉𝐒.
Early, gentle, lower-stim, deeper listening show from 6pm. Congee for mutual aid from Anuraag on the rooftop.
