Event description

Variety hits It’s Still A Secret on a sleepy Sunday evening. Exciting alternative rock Miss Mardy headlines an eclectic evening supported by Brisbane pop folk royalty Kat Flowers and newcomers Transmissions From The Water-Tower.

With angst from the 2000’s New York garage rock revival scene and the emphatics of the DMA’s, Fontaines D.C and WAAX, Miss Mardy comprises of Rhythm Guitarist and Lead Vocalist Danny O’Rourke, Lead guitarist Max Hodge and Rhythm Section; Kyle Bedford (Drums) and Tom Doherty (Bass).

Kat Flowers is a folk-pop artist from Brisbane, emerging onto her local scene in 2018. Her gentle vocal lines and melodic guitar work are interwoven with personal stories crafted into touching songs. With a background in blues and folk, and drawing inspiration from artists such as Missy Higgins, Hozier, and, The Milk Carton Kids, there is a heavy emphasis on story telling through thoughtful lyricism.

Transmissions from the water-tower is an indie-folk-rock-punk-whatever act writing songs about mental health, recovery, and finding peace through emotional catharsis. Brand new to the brisbane/meanjin scene, they draw inspiration from bands like Ball Park Music, Passenger, and Neutral Milk Hotel.
