Mitchell Bell Quintet
Event description
Mitchell Bell is a Meanjin/Brisbane based Guitarist and composer whose musical output is informed by a deep and wholistic relationship to music. Under the tutelage of Ron Dolan (Syd), James Sandon (BNE), Steve Newcomb (BNE), Chris Stover (USA) and Elliot Parker (BNE) Mitchell Bell has developed into a forward thinking and innovative musician, songwriter and composer.
Mitchell Bell has made a name for himself as a member of the Meanjin based Fusion band, Squibs, the resident Tresero for Chris Stover's Con Alma and the guitarist for the Queensland Conservatorium of Music's 2024 Con Artists Big Band. Having performed as part of the Max Irvin Quartet at the Brisbane Jazz Club and Brisfest in 2024, as well as presenting his own Quartet, heavily inspired by the music of Wayne Shorter, Mitchell Bell has established a place in the Meanjin Jazz scene as one of the energetic rising stars of the modern era.
Presenting a combination of new and old compositions and arrangements in a quintet composed of Meanjin's most exciting young musicians, this will be a night to remember. Featuring longtime collaborators, Ethan Coleman (piano), Max Irvin (saxophone), Charlie Green (bass) and for the first time, Chris Evans (drum kit).
