Teacher Environment Network - for schools in Mitchell Shire and surrounds
Event description
Teachers within Mitchell Shire and surrounds are invited to join the Term 1 TEN meeting!
Join us for our first meeting of 2025, where we will be exploring Victoria's native bee and pollinator species.
Hosted by ResourceSmart Schools and held at Wallan Primary School - we will be joined by Clancy Lester, a native bee expert and nature enthusiast, who will be running an interactive presentation on native bees and pollinators, followed by a practical, hands-on element where teachers will be invited to build native bee hotels. The session will aim to educate schools about our native pollinators, raise awareness on the threats they are facing, and look into the different ways in which schools can help. Our afternoon session will be filled with biodiversity activities, local networking opportunities and free student biodiversity resources.
We aim to inspire you with biodiversity and sustainability ideas that you can introduce into your classroom and school grounds, whilst providing a space for you to share your own ideas and experiences on implementing biodiversity education and activities.
Please note:
- this session will be capped at 15 attendees, so make sure you get in quick to secure your spot!
- where spots are limited, regional schools will be given preference
- registration for the event will close two weeks prior to allow for material sourcing for the workshop element
All schools in attendance must be an active ResourceSmart School, so please get in touch with Leah Martini at leah.martini@sustainability.vic.gov.au to sign up to our free sustainability program prior to attending.
Tea, coffee and a light supper will be served during the session. We look forward to seeing you there!
