Home Maintenance 104: Simple tiling– 4 hours

The Home Maintenance series takes you through all the basic tools and skills for simple home maintenance jobs. You’ll learn about suitable hardware, tools and techniques, along with tips and tricks for taking care of all those small jobs around the home you’d like to do yourself.

This short course introduces you to tiling techniques and processes for small interior jobs.

It covers getting to know the tools, hardware and materials for small tiling jobs, such as splashbacks, and repairs to grout and damaged tiles. You’ll be shown how to:
• Prepare surfaces for tiling (Brick and plasterboard walls, concrete and timber floors), including calculating how many tiles and other materials you’ll need, choosing the right materials and hardware for these jobs, and sealing and waterproofing before you start to tile.
• Learn how to remove and replace damaged tiles and grout.
• Choose tiling patterns and learn how to lay them (including how to cut and drill tiles to fit)
• Learn how to grout, edge and finish tiled surfaces
• Work safely with hazardous materials and processes

What you bring: Yourself. All tools and materials are included in the registration. Morning tea is provided.

What to wear: suitable clothing to tile in, and sturdy closed shoes. We provide safety glasses, dust masks and ear protection.

At WOTT we keep our classes small to optimise your learning experience. Any cancellations or transfers, therefore, have an effect on our ability to deliver these classes (and may even result in the cancellation of the course). Please consider your dates carefully prior to booking.

Our cancellation and refund/transfer policy is as follows:

- cancellation up to 7 days prior to the course: full refund or transfer to a new course date.
- cancellation up to 2 days prior to the course: 50% refund/no transfer. You will then be required to rebook into the preferred course.
- cancellation less than 48h prior to the course: no refund or transfer available.
