A mixed media class focusing on using collage, stitching and dye techniques to create grunge style, abstract and realism works.

What will be covered in this course?

We will cover how to use different mediums including: natural dyes, paint, art crayon, stamps stencils thread & image transfer.

We will use these mediums in experiments to create your own papers and manipulate them into unique pieces of art to create layers in your work.

By the end of this course students will:

You will have a number of work experiments exploring the art of layering different mediums, a small journal and a couple of major completed works.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

● 300gm watercolour paper, cold pressed A3 or Caran D’Ache mixed media paper

● Matte medium

● Gel medium Matte

● Basic acrylic paints

● White Gesso

● Old/New pieces of cotton lace and fabric, a small assortment and some jewellery

trinkets. I will also bring a range for you to use.

ABOUT THE TUTOR

Harriet Bystrom studied Visual arts at Coffs Harbour TAFE for 3 years finishing in 2012.

Harriet has since been teaching Adults and children art at Woolgoolga and Coffs Harbour

Show-ground gallery. Harriet has also exhibited in many exhibitions winning prizes for all

different types of art work like mono printing, mixed media, pastels and acrylics.
