Join us in October for an interactive mixed methods workshop, as part of the Qualitative Data Analysis series. This session focuses on integrating qualitative and quantitative approaches to strengthen study design, analysis and reporting.

Dr Stephanie White (UTS Faculty of Health) will clarify what counts as mixed methods design and what does not. She will distinguish mixed methods from related but different practices, such as multi‑method studies, adding open‑ended questions to a survey without integration, and simple descriptive statistics in qualitative projects.

A central focus of the session is analysis and integration. Dr White will cover where and how to integrate across the research process, including design‑level planning, methods‑level links, and interpretation‑level synthesis. You will learn practical techniques for integration, such as joint displays, side‑by‑side comparisons, weaving narratives, data transformation (quantitising or qualitising), and developing meta‑inferences.

Plan integration points across sampling, data collection, analysis and interpretation
