Mixing Print Media - Collagraph and Drypoint with Jo Hollier
Event description
This 2-day workshop will allow you time to investigate the possibilities of combining both collagraphy and drypoint etching print methods. We’ll start on Day 1 by covering the safe use of the press and have a brief overview of materials before launching into design and plate-making options, leading to the creation of 2 plates of equal size, to be printed in combination. On Day 2 the focus will be on various ways of inking up your plates and transferring your images on to paper. Over the course of the 2 days, there will be a range of techniques covered that you’ll add to your printmaking repertoire including, but not limited to, the varying approaches of building up a collagraph plate, some finer points of manipulating ink on the plates and the introduction of colour to your prints, all revealing the ways in which you can create images full of texture & colour. You’ll come away with a deeper understanding of the printing processes using the press, new skills to use in your printmaking practice, a set of proofs and some beautiful, one-of-a-kind prints to be proud of. This workshop is an exciting and experimental approach to printmaking, often producing unpredictable results that leads you into inspiring, new work pathways.
10-4pm each day, 30mins for hour lunch. ** Suitable for beginners and anyone wanting to add to, or re-fresh skills. Ages 16+. **Wheelchair accessible. Materials' fee of $35 is included in workshop price.
