Mixing Print Media - Collagraph and Drypoint with Jo Hollier
Event description
This 2-day workshop will allow you time to investigate the possibilities of combining both Collagraph and Drypoint etching print methods.
Day 1 begins with a brief overview of the press & materials before launching into design and plate-making options, leading to the creation of 2 plates of equal size, to be used in combination. On Day 2 the focus will be on various ways of inking up your plates and transferring your images on to paper. Over the 2 days, there will be a range of techniques covered that you’ll add to your printmaking repertoire including, but not limited to, some finer points of manipulating ink on the plates, varying approaches of building up a collagraph plate and the introduction of colour to your prints, all revealing ways in which you can create images rich in texture & colour. This 2-day, hands-on workshop is an exciting and experimental approach to printmaking, often producing unpredictable results that will give you a deeper understanding of these printing processes leading you into inspiring, new work pathways. You'll leave with a new set of skills to apply in your printmaking practice along with a set of proofs and some beautiful, one-of-a-kind prints to be proud of.
10-4pm each day, 30mins for hour lunch. ** Suitable for beginners and anyone wanting to add to, or re-fresh skills. Ages 16+. **Wheelchair accessible. Materials' fee of $35 is included in workshop price.
