Event description

Locals and land carers of the Macedon Ranges, please join us to celebrate the formation of the Macedon and Mount Macedon Landcare group.

On a Sunday afternoon in late April all are welcome at the Macedon Community House to listen and learn, ponder and discuss, meet new folks and old, and enjoy a cuppa and cake.

There will be a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony by an elder of the Wurundjeri people of the Woiwurrung language group, in the Kulin nation.

The Committee of Macedon and Mt Macedon Landcare are hosting this launch. Speakers include:

  • Kate Lawrence: Landcare, Learning and Listening. Kate is a Macedon local and President of the Macedon and Mount Macedon Landcare Group.
  • Greg Boldiston: The formation of Mount Macedon and its waterways. Greg was born and raised in the forests and gardens of Mt Macedon. He is a trained horticulturist and plant collector, with a passion for natural science, the natural world and of course, fungi
  • Simon Purves: Caring for and restoring local waterways. Simon is the Conservation Reserves Officer Macedon Ranges Shire Council who manages most of the conservation reserves and many have waterways running through them.

We'll meet the committee, have questions and discussion, and finally relax and enjoy some refreshments. (And if you can't make it, sign up to our newsletter here, to stay in the loop.)
