MNET Game Jam 2026
Description
This Game Jam is exclusive to Monash University, in collaboration with the Games and Immersive Media Major and the Faculty of Information Technology.
You MUST register with your Monash email.
What is a Game Jam?
A Game Jam is a short event where you and others work together to create a small game. They're a great way to test ideas, build your skills, and meet other awesome creative people. Whether you've never made games before or you know your way around making games, get involved!
Why This Game Jam?
This jam doesn't require a huge commitment! This Game Jam is open to all skill levels, from beginner game-makers, to seasoned jammers looking for a fun, relaxed weekend.
We are also supported by Monash University's Games and Immersive Media Staff, who will be on standby through Ed Forums to assist with any game dev related questions. Remember to be considerate of their time!
Theme
The theme will be released in-person, at G.08 Mixed Reality Studio at the start of the game jam.
How Do I Get Involved?
Form a team or run solo with members from Monash University
PS. you can meet people on the day and join a group if you don't know anyone!
Register here with a Monash University email! You'll receive a verification email shortly after, with detailed instructions to join the Game Jam.
Prizes
Small prizes will be awarded to the top 6 games, with larger prizes for the top 3. These will be across:

Prizes for top 3 are to be released but will involve gift cards and marketing for the published game.

Introductory speech and initial information regarding the awards ceremony and creation of itch.io accounts

Teams are formed and finalised (individual teams are allowed)

Game Jam Begins
Itch page release, theme release, and all relevant information. Teams can begin working!

Event in progress
Teams are working on their game ideas with snacks and music! MNET members are available to assist teams during this time period.
