Malaysian Night Melbourne 2026
Description
Malaysian Night 2026 (MNight) is a cultural initiative hosted by MCulture, the cultural arm of MASCA Victoria. As part of MCulture's mission to preserve and promote Malaysian culture, MNight brings the community together through a celebration of storytelling, music, and theatrical performances.
This year's production, Magika: Singgah Pulang, follows the journey of iconic Malaysian folklore characters who are unexpectedly transported to Melbourne, where they cross paths with a student who's spent years hiding from his roots. In helping themselves find a way home, they end up helping him find his.
More than just a theatre production, MNight provides a talents, creativity, and passion for the performing arts. It also offers the wider Victorian community a unique opportunity to experience Malaysia's rich folklore, traditions, and cultural values through an engaging musical performance.
In line with MCulture's vision, MNight aims to strengthen the sense of belonging among Malaysians in Victoria while celebrating the beauty of Malaysian culture. Through this production, we hope to share a piece of home with our community and inspire audiences to embrace their roots wherever they are.
