Modern Calligraphy Basics Workshop - Pointed Pen
Event description
Ready to slow down, get creative, and try something new? Our upcoming Modern Calligraphy Basics Workshop is more than just learning fancy writing — it’s an invitation to unplug, discover the timeless beauty of calligraphy and reconnect with the joy of creating by hand.
While you are here, let's also bust a myth - you do not need to have beautiful handwriting to write beautiful calligraphy!
What you will learn:
In this three hour Modern Calligraphy Basics workshop, you will be guided through the basics of calligraphy and the pointed pen. You will learn how to assemble your pen and hold it the right way. We will walk through the basic strokes and letter and word formations, as well as nib care and more. We will spend some time learning the rules of traditional calligraphy before showing you how to break the rules to achieve a more casual and free-flowing style.
This is a fun and creative workshop aimed at those with no experience with calligraphy. We also welcome individuals who have some experience with calligraphy using other tools (brush pen, watercolour brush etc) and may want add the pointed pen to their set of skills. During the group workshop, you can expect to receive personalised feedback from myself as we progress.
