Description

The Modern Village Playgroup – 8 Week Term

A relaxed, nature-based playgroup for mums and little ones.

The Village Playgroup has been created with a simple intention — to offer something slower, softer and more connected.

Rather than dropping into a different playgroup each week, we come back to the same little village for 8 weeks. We get to know the faces around us, our children become familiar with one another, conversations get easier, and connections have the chance to naturally grow into real friendships.

For little ones, it’s a chance to explore through sensory, nature-based and open-ended play. To get messy, be curious, move their bodies and engage with the world around them.

For mums, it’s an opportunity to pause, connect and build relationships with other women in a similar season. The kind of connections that feel easy and supportive — and become stronger simply through showing up week after week.

Term 4 Details

We have two locations across the term:

Weeks 1–4 | North Shore Country Club, Kallaroo
Outdoors by the playground.

We’ll begin the term in our familiar space, allowing everyone to settle in, get to know each other and build those early connections.

Weeks 5–8 | Pinnaroo Point Park, Hillarys
Near Hillarys Beach Club.

As the weather warms up, we’ll move our village to the coast for the final four weeks.

Pinnaroo Point gives us direct access to the beach, so after our playgroup time there will be the option to stay, swim, play in the sand and enjoy the morning together.

Both locations have a café nearby, making it easy to grab a coffee or something to eat before, during or after playgroup.

What to Expect

Each week will have a loose theme with a mix of:

  • Nature-based sensory play — sometimes messy, so bring a change of clothes

  • Water, sand and tactile play

  • Simple creative activities such as painting and nature craft

  • Bubbles, parachute games and plenty of free play

  • Playground and nature exploration

  • A calm tablespace for mums to sit, chat and connect

  • Optional oracle cards and gentle connection prompts

  • A short story and song to close

The first part of the morning is focused on exploring and participating in the activities for the week.

The second part becomes a little more relaxed and social, with our shared fruit platter, group games and helping the children pack away the fun.

And if your little one would rather keep playing — that's absolutely welcome too. There’s no expectation that children sit still or follow a rigid schedule.

Our Shared Fruit Platter

The venue (Northshore Country Club) does not allow outside food, but has kindly allowed us to prepare a community fruit platter each week. Everyone is invited to bring a piece of fruit to share.

The children can help cut and prepare the fruit with support from their parent or carer, before we enjoy it together as a group.

When we move to Pinnaroo point beach weeks 5-8 your welcome to bring snacks and we will still make our fruit platter to share as well.

Both locations also have a café if you’d like to grab a coffee or something to eat.

A Little Note About the Weather

The Village Playgroup is an outdoor, nature-based playgroup, so there is no indoor space available for activities.

Please come prepared for the weather — layers, hats, sunscreen, wet-weather gear and a willingness to get a little messy are all welcome.

If it rains, we’ll embrace it as part of the experience where conditions are safe.

For our final four weeks at Pinnaroo Point, you may also want to bring swimmers and a towel so you can make the most of having the beach right there.

The Intention

This isn't about structured activities or rushing from one thing to the next. It’s about creating a consistent space where both you and your child can settle, connect and simply be.

A place where familiar faces become friends.
Where your child knows the people they are playing alongside. Where you can have a coffee and a conversation without needing to organise the whole thing yourself. And where, over the course of eight weeks, a little village begins to form.

A little about me..

Hi, I’m Loren.

I’ve spent many years working with children across early years and primary settings, including extensive experience supporting children with additional needs. Creating spaces where all children feel safe, included, and able to be themselves is something I care deeply about. This is a space where all children and adults are welcome, included, and supported.

Over time, I’ve seen how powerful it is when parents find each other. People who truly get the season they’re in. The small conversations that become friendships, the sense of being understood, and realising you don’t have to do it all alone.

That’s a big part of why this space exists.

Alongside my work with children, I also hold space for women in more emotional and spiritual ways, and I naturally bring a little of that into this space too, through gentle touches like creativity, reflection, and optional oracle cards.

At its heart, this playgroup is about connection.
For your child, for you, and for something that can grow into a sense of community over time.
