Module 2: Cervical Screening (Nursing) February 2027
Description
This is the Cervical Screening module of the Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health (Nursing).
This registration page is for nurses who want to complete the Cervical Screening module only, and are not completing the entire Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health (Nursing).
If you are unsure about what modules you need to register for call 08 6164 7982 to discuss further.
Entry Requirements/Eligibility
At least one-year post-registration experience is necessary for all nurses and midwives enrolling in the course. Evidence of current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is required as part of the enrolment process. Previous experience in the area of women’s health, sexual and reproductive health or community health is an advantage but not a requirement.
If you are enrolling to attend module 2 cervical screening as an individual module you must work in a healthcare setting where cervical screening services are provided and have a current cervical screen provider available to supervise your cervical screening testing between supervised clinical attachments at SHQ.
Requirements
All nurses who register to attend module 2 cervical screening as an individual module must complete and submit the employer endorsement form with their registration and complete the online work prior to attending the workshop.
Online Prework
There are pre course readings and activities that must be completed prior to attending the face to face workshop. This work will take between 13 and 20 hours to complete. If you do not complete the prework you will not be able to attend the face to face workshop. When registration, employer endorsement and payment has been received you will receive the logon information to access the prework.
Upskilling
Upskilling of knowledge and skills in cervical screening for those healthcare professionals who have previously been trained and worked independently in providing cervical screening/pap smear services may be available on request. Contact the Nurse Educator Karen Bonte to discuss this option further.
Upskilling is intended for clinicians who have not performed cervical screening for some time and are required to undertake re-training and updating before re-introducing this service into their scope of practice.
For additional course dates visit the course page on the SHQ website.
