MOIRAI presents COSMOS
Description
Join Moirai to experience COSMOS, a musical celebration of celestial bodies through style and time. Our program explores the ways in which human fascination with the cosmos has inspired song and dance throughout history.
From the stars as a manifestation of the divine, the sun as a radial emblem of imperial majesty, and the moon as a cosmic feminine principle, COSMOS contemplates how humans have sought to understand the great mysteries of our existence by turning to the sky. Moirai charts a course through the history of cosmic music, from Ancient Greece to modern day Sydney via a 12th century French monastery. We present folk songs from across the world from the scarlet evening sky illuminating the Pirin mountain range in Bulgaria, to England and the lonely man in the moon. Through COSMOS, Moirai praises the human spirit that has gazed with wonder at the sky and the celestial bodies from time immemorial.

[n]iran
[n]iran is the meeting place of trumpeter Niran Dasika and electronic musician Iran Sanadzedah.
Niran Dasika
Niran is a trumpeter, improvisor, and composer based in Melbourne, Australia whose work encompasses jazz, free improvisation, and electronic music. Niran leads an active performing career around Australia and across Japan where he lived for several years. He has released eight albums as a band leader, including the latest ‘Life Forms’ (2025).
Niran’s live solo performances augment his distinctive trumpet sound with live sampling and processing to create mesmeric, hypnotic patterns underneath his lyrical trumpet playing.
Iran Sanadzedah
Iran’s musical practice explores the possible relationships between movement and sound, primarily using their set of terpsichora pressure-sensitive floors. Iran’s collaborative practice-based research focuses on interaction design for music, movement and dance.
Much of her work combines STEM, design and the performing arts. Raised in Tehran, she moved to Adelaide in 2009, where they studied and developed the Terpsichora pressure-sensitive Floors with Sebastian Collen. This project has developed into a wide-reaching practice, which Iran is writing a book about.
