Piano Day is a celebration of the piano bringing together events by piano players from all around the world. Always held on the 88th day of the year, because there are 88 keys on this wonderful instrument.

The bar will run a selection of beer, low intervention wine & refreshing non alcohol options.

Performances start promptly at 7:15pm.

3 X 20 min sessions (with 2 short intervals for drinks and chats).

Our Artists

No-ké

Cassie To is a composer based in Sydney. Her studies at the Sydney Conservatorium, combined with her personal musical influences have given her the passion and expertise to compose across different styles and genres. Cassie’s adaptability and creativity has seen her write scores for film, advertisements, television and documentaries.

No-kë is a side project of hers exploring modern classical music with contemporary and popular styles.

Mirla

Mirla is the solo project of Neoclassical pianist and screen composer Emily Mirla Harrison.

Mirla’s music is an emotionally charged experience. From fragile minor key piano motifs and carefully crafted modulations, Mirla's cinematic pieces evolve in unexpected ways, taking her listeners inwards on a reflective journey that is both uplifting and cathartic. Influenced by composers of the romantic and impressionist era such as Debussy and Rachmaninoff, her filmic music is moody & spontaneous, lyrical and chromatic. She has been likened to artists such as Hania Rani, Poppy Ackroyd and Ludovico Einaudi.

Mirla performs works from her debut album 'Solitaire (The Virtue of Patience) "a glorious and life-affirming album" - A Closer Listen, and new compositions.

Mirla's album featured on ABC's Classic Drive; the Artist was interviewed about the incredible story behind Solitaire, inspired by her grandparent's wartime diaries. She features on on Little Symphony Neoclassical essentials, Vol 1, 2 and her most recent release is a collaboration for Little Symphony Records' experimental album 'X' with Violinist Franciois Mathian.

Fun fact - Mirla scored the episode 'Butterflies" for hit ABC childrens animation 'Bluey'.

Mirla is the warm host of Piano Sessions.

The Nano Symphony

The Nano Symphony is all about creating another world for weary souls to escape to; manifesting a sound haven refuge from day to day noise.

Weaving live string and wind instruments together with piano and expressive electronics is Nano’s signature neoclassical experience taking audiences on an immersive, ambient sonic journey.

The Nano Symphony’s sound has been likened to Olafur Arnalds, Max Richter and Nils Frahm crossed with Jon Hopkins and Max Cooper.

Currently working on their first full length LP album of all-original compositions, past collaborations include “HIVE” which was composed for Nano by Peggy Polias and subsequently released through boutique label Kammerklang. The Nano Symphony performed “HIVE” in its entirety at the City Recital Hall (Sydney) as part of the venue’s own micro-festival ‘Extended Play’.

The Nano Symphony accompanied Dutch pianist Joep Beving live in the Sydney Opera House for two sold-out shows. They also joined Luke Howard, Peter Gregson, Sibeal (Ireland) and Double Touch on stage at the inaugural ZoneOut Festival as well as Halsey and Yungblud for their massively popular Triple-J Like A Version performance of Death Cab For Cutie’s ‘I Will Follow You Into The Dark’ which has currently been viewed more than 14 million times.

During our dinner service we will also be treated to some background piano music played by Sydney composer Frances Cameron. She will be playing a selection of pieces from Chopin to Liszt as well as her own neoclassical compositions.

'Frances Cameron is a Tasmanian pianist and composer currently based in Sydney. Her gentle, emotive music invites listeners into a state of reflection'.
