4:00pm - 6 pm
Camberwell South Primary School, 4 Peate Ave, Glen Iris VIC 3146
The team at CERES, who are generously supported by the City of Monash and City of Boroondara, are excited to host the Teacher Environment Network Meeting for Term 2, 2022!
Teachers within the City of Monash and the City of Boroondara are invited to attend our Term 2 meeting hosted at Camberwell South Primary School!
Come for a cuppa, cake, and inspiration as we connect face to face for the first time in years! We will hear from Virginia Bowley, the Kitchen Garden Specialist who helped CSPS win both the regional and state awards in the 2021 Victorian School Garden Awards
You will hear about and see some of the impressive sustainability initiatives which have transformed Camberwell South Primary School over recent years, which include:
- Winning both a regional and state award in the 2021 Victorian school garden awards. The award recognizes the school’s garden but also has a heavy focus on recycling and sustainability which CSPS continues to build on.
- Winning a Woolworths Landcare grant to build a large in-ground passive worm farm. A first for any school that they are aware of. They are now feeding the worm leachate to the school garden.
- Implementing a whole school community green waste food scrap Friday collection program. This program encourages school families to bring in their FOGO and other green waste, including cardboard, to help sustain their school garden worm and composting systems.
- Working with their senior students to change their worm farm water pump from electricity to solar, in support of their kitchen garden sustainability principles.
- Receiving their 10th delivery from Reground, who collects and redistributes coffee grounds and chaff in Melbourne. CSPS use the coffee grounds in their worm and composting systems and as a pest deterrent in our kitchen garden. They have just been told they have helped divert 10 tonnes of coffee grounds from landfills over the past few years!
Learn more about the CSPS garden and its relationship with Reground here.
We will also hear from CERES who will present the Sustainable Development Goals and how you can use them in lesson planning. There will be plenty of time for workshopping and sharing ideas.
With World Environment Day on the 5th of June, we really want to highlight and celebrate all the hard work that our Teacher Environment Network does.
If you have something really interesting or exciting happening in your school and want to share- let us know! We can give you a 5-10minute time slot to showcase your project.
This event is strictly limited to 50 participants. We will be holding an active waiting list who will be notified if tickets become available.
