Montessori & Artificial Intelligence

Clarity, human competency and following the child in a changing world

Meet your presenter

Kate Broughton

If you are wary of artificial intelligence, this session is for you.

Kate brings no technology to promote, no tools to teach and no verdict to hand down. Instead, she offers reassurance grounded in forty years of experience in education, including thirty years in Montessori, and in the evidence that Dr Maria Montessori has already equipped us for this moment.

In her book, Mapping Montessori Materials for AI Competency Development, Kate maps the Montessori materials already on our shelves against the human competencies identified by McKinsey, UNESCO and the World Economic Forum as essential for the world ahead.

Her findings reveal that these capabilities are already deeply cultivated within our prepared environments. What is needed is not a collection of new materials, but greater clarity about what is inherent in the materials and practices we already have.

Join Kate Broughton for a reassuring and evidence-informed exploration of Montessori education in the age of artificial intelligence.

Montessori Has Prepared Us

Explore how Montessori philosophy and practice already provide a strong foundation for responding thoughtfully to artificial intelligence.

Human Competencies for the Future

Consider the capabilities leading global organisations identify as essential—and how Montessori environments already cultivate them.

New Clarity, Not New Materials

Rediscover the rich developmental purpose already present in the Montessori materials and prepared environments we know.

Observe and Follow the Child

Return to the essential Montessori work of observing without judgement and following the child—even as the world around them changes.

The work being asked of us is work we already know how to do: observe without judgement and follow the child, wherever they may lead us.

Fresh perspectives. Meaningful connections.

Created for parents, teachers and educational leaders across the globe, these engaging sessions offer practical insights and fresh perspectives to help you support children’s learning, development and wellbeing.

Drawing on our guests’ experiences, we will explore how Montessori principles can strengthen relationships, inspire purposeful learning and contribute to a kinder, brighter world.

Whether you are new to Montessori or looking to deepen your existing knowledge, you’ll leave with meaningful ideas that can be applied at home, in the classroom or across your educational community.
