The Jazz Doof Vol. 8

A night of live music, DJs and late-night listening in a DIY warehouse at Second Story Studios, Collingwood.

The Jazz Doof sits between live jazz, soul and groove based performance and club culture. The night unfolds in layers, starting with live music upstairs and gradually moving into deeper DJ led sessions across the building.

After a full Vol. 7, we return to Second Story Studios for Vol. 8.

It runs across three rooms, each with its own pace. Live music, DJs and a quiet grounding space. A simple structure built around flow, sound and time in the space.

Moor Music

Moor Music began in 2018 as a series of small events in Melbourne and has grown into a platform for jazz, soul and forward thinking electronic music.

It has stayed independent in approach, focused on curation and on creating space for artists to explore without constraint.

The Rooms

Live Room (Upstairs)
Live jazz, soul, Afrobeat and groove led performance. The starting point of the night and its live core.

DJ Room (Downstairs)
A darker warehouse room for deeper selections across house, jazz, soul, broken beat, disco and club music. Built for later hours.

Yoga Room / Grounding Space
A quiet, low lit space with mats, cushions and bean bags. A place to step out, reset, stretch or sit in stillness at any point.

Zimbabwean born vocalist with a strong live presence, performing at major festivals and theatre productions including Dreamgirls and The Color Purple.

The Seven Ups
Melbourne groove outfit blending funk, Afrobeat, psychedelic jazz and improvisation.

Barney McAll – Precious Energy
Grammy nominated pianist presenting a fusion of avant funk, soul and improvisation, featuring collaborators from Hiatus Kaiyote and Gary Bartz.

Kaviitá
Wadawurrung based artist blending neo soul, jazz, R&B and hip hop into intimate and textured soundscapes.

Javiera Diaz
Soulful songwriting with jazz, R&B and Latin influenced pop sensibilities.
