The More-than-Human Alliance
Event description
‘More than Human Ministries’ is a speculative role-play activity for imagining new forms of governance that include the needs of humans and all life forms.
This workshop asks "What kinds of alternative ministries, values, and regenerative policies might better address the interconnected nature of the current global social and ecological challenges?"
Participants adopt roles as humans and more-than-human entities in a speculative future where all life is given a voice in governmental decision-making.
The workshop aims to imagine a more hopeful, empathetic, collaborative, and regenerative future for all beings in a multi-species society.
Workshop format:
- An activity briefing and experiential future scene-setting (e.g. a 2050 scenario in which the activity takes place)
- Collaborating with other participants in small groups
- An 'assembly of future ministries' to share and deliberate upon proposals for a more sustainable and just future
- Ending with a debriefing and reflections on the experience and thoughts for possible climate action.
Hosted by: Susie Pratt and Sam Yu (UTS Transdisciplinary School), Damien Lutz (Life-centred Design Lab), and Stephanie Bhim
Workshop length: 2hrs
Where: Level 4, Building 7, 67 Thomas Street Ultimo NSW 2007
