More Than Small Talk is a HEELS YYC social supporting mental health and suicide awareness, bringing people together for an evening of conversation, community and giving back.
Join us at The Wednesday Room on September 30th, from 6 p.m. until late.

Why we’re doing it
September is an important time for conversations around mental health and suicide prevention. More Than Small Talk is our way of making space for those conversations in a welcoming, relaxed setting.
Sometimes support looks like checking in. Sometimes it looks like listening. Sometimes it simply starts with being in the same room.
More Than Small Talk is the first HEELS Gives Back initiative, bringing the HEELS value of Support into practice. All proceeds from the event will go to Calgary Respite House.
ABOUT CALGARY RESPITE HOUSE
Calgary Respite House describes its purpose as “A short-stay, home-like place for support during suicidal crisis.”
It offers voluntary stays of three to five nights for adults experiencing a suicidal crisis, with mental health and peer support available around the clock. Guests receive support with safety planning, recovery planning and finding resources for their return home.
The house is operated by Cympact: A Community Impact Foundation, with support from the Canadian Mental Health Association, Alberta Division and Centre for Suicide Prevention.

HEELS YYC is a community for ambitious young women in Calgary looking for friendships, mentorship and opportunities to grow, personally or professionally.
The idea is simple: we each have our own network, experiences and interests. Getting to know people with a similar drive can introduce you to opportunities and perspectives you might not have found otherwise. It takes showing up, putting in effort and building real relationships.
