Event description

Oosh! Following our sold out return to Wellington morning-club-life, we’re fizzing to present our next party in the capital, featuring sound hound and musical maverick PocketLipps.

PocketLipps is a music addict who has been throwing sound around clubs, events and festivals across the world for more than 25 years. Getting his first fix on a big stage at New Zealand’s infamous New Year's festival The Gathering at the end of the 90s, PocketLipps has since tumbled through a plethora of genre-bending soundscapes, parties, raves and radio shows.

A voracious music addict and versatile DJ, he is able to drop either a fire-fuelled UK garage, breakbeat, electro and bass set, or summon up some rolling grooves and thundering beats that live inside the realm of fourfour. Taking influences from bass music, post punk, indie and all the sub-genres inside house and techno, PocketLipps likes threading the eye of the needle through various genres with long blends and quick cuts.

Recent times have seen him play peak-time slots at Taniwha’s Den, and jams with the Breakaway and High Functioning crews.

His recent forays back into the world of music production have borne some tasty fruit, with a handful of edits and original tunes sneaking their way onto local dancefloors.

A long-term resident of Wellington’s renowned Radio Active, these days he is at the helm of the Late Late Breakfast Show on the first Saturday of each month.

Don’t miss PocketLips playing Morning People Te Whanganui-a-Tara, 6:30am on Wednesday 8th May.

In usual Morning People fashion, big breakfast sized helpings of dance music will be served alongside complimentary Altezano Brothers coffee, feel-good fair trade All Good Bananas, and kombucha thanks to the lovelies at Karma Drinks.
