AKL: Morning People X Vector Lights Pride Party feat. AJ Honeysuckle, FREE!

Tāmaki! Morning People is back with a very special waterfront edition for Auckland Pride Festival 2025! Join us on Friday 28th February as we take over Hobson Wharf for an outdoor party next to the sea.

For this one-of-a-kind morning, we’re bringing in AJ Honeysuckle—a rising force in the Aotearoa dance scene. With a sound shaped by her Samoan and Waikato roots, AJ has played at 121 Festival, Two Minds, and supported the behemoth Fat Freddy’s Drop. Expect high energy dancefloor cuts, heavy basslines and genre-blending goodness to get your tinana moving.

And if dancing next to the moana as the sun rises wasn’t enough to get you shooting rainbows, the party will be set against the backdrop of Vector Lights on the Harbour Bridge and featured Pride light show.Created by contemporary installation artist Alex Watene (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Whātua, Te Arawa a Tūhoe), the show explores Takatāpui identity and the impact of colonisation on gender diversity in Aotearoa. 

Using the sonic wizardry of Hedset headphones, you’ll be able to tune into the accompanying music for the light show by Ariana Tikao and Mokotron or lose yourself in the AJ dance.

In usual Morning People fashion, generous helpings of dancefloor magic will be served alongside Altezano Brothers coffee, All Good Bananas, and Karma Drinks.

Expect sweat, spontaneous grins, freaky dance moves and possibly maybe even some fabulous pajamas.

The Vector Lights for Auckland Pride Festival 2025 light and sound show will play from Thursday 20 February to Friday 28 February from 9pm until midnight, every 15 minutes.
