Description

Join Lady Barbara Harvey and Gayle Marshall for an insightful talk at Te Toi Uku - Crown Lynn & Clay Museum.

They will discuss their book Whispers in the Wind and the work they do for the Friends of Waikumete.Friends and stalwarts for more than 25 years, they jointly compiled the book Whispers in the Wind in 2017, alongside researcher and historian Lisa Truttman.

Whispers in the Wind is a snapshot of the lives of several soldiers who were interred at the cemetery between 1881 and 1918, the end of World War One.

Come along as they discuss their book and the work they do for the Friends of Waikumete, a group established in 1995 with the aim of promoting the unique historical and horticultural features of the historic Waikumete Cemetery.

Both Lady Barbara and Gayle are passionate about the lives represented at Waikumete, and this is one of the reasons the book evolved and why they continue as kaitiaki for our ancestors at this special place.Take up this unique opportunity to learn about Barbara and Gayle's work while enjoying the unique setting of Te Toi Uku – Crown Lynn Museum, followed by morning tea.
