You are invited to Morwood Manor.
Dear esteemed guest,
We welcome you into our cherished home as a reintroduction into the community after some… unfortunate time apart.
We're sure you all have forgiven--or at least forgotten about--that horrible incident from some years ago. Sometimes accidents happen, but we can assure you that safety is of the highest priority tonight.
We promise to all get along for an evening of pleasantries and normal conversational exchanges. We’ll serve tea. The doors will be locked for your safety. Children are not allowed.
Please RSVP at your earliest convenience so that we can expect your arrival. Pets and children are not allowed. Make sure to review the dress code that you will find below.
(And please do not mention the sugar to Candace when you see her. She may lose her mind.)
About the show
Morwood Manor is an original surrealist thriller about families, isolation, rituals, and responsibility, all set inside a converted church. This new immersive show is loosely inspired by Shirley Jackson’s We Have Always Lived in the Castle, and was devised by an ensemble of Denver actors with co-direction from Soleil Kohl and Hang Nguyen.
Think family drama meets campy horror film meets Lynchian psycho thriller.
The fall season is filled with Colorado’s classic haunted houses, corn mazes, and pumpkin patches, but this year, Kohl & Nguyen bring you an original spooky experience sure to set itself apart amongst your other Halloween plans.
FAQs
- Dress code
Consider this a fun excuse for your most gothic and dreary garb. Think lace, layers, suits, loafers, shawls, hats.
The family does not like bright and colorful things.
- What does 'immersive' mean for this experience?
During the show, you'll be seated around a long dining table, with actors performing at and around the table. You will be treated as guests of the family, and interacted with as if you know the family.
You will be invited to participate in conversations and certain activities, but of course, can always say no. As a company, we highlight consent and voluntary participation.
- How scary is it?
The show will be absurd in its humor, and outlandish in its horror. Think less "haunted house" with a large reliance on jump scares, and more of an ambient and creepy vibe, kind of like a spooky murder mystery party that goes off the rails.
Expect content to be surrealist, nonsensical, and somewhat disturbed in similar veins to horror films like Parasite, Hereditary, or Obsession.
For more specific content warnings or accessibility requests, please reach out to us directly.
- Will there be food?
Tea will be served during the performance, with very light food refreshments provided (crackers, scones, etc)
It is recommended to eat before or after the show.
