Mosman Clothes Swap
Event description
Every time we buy new clothing, we pose a serious threat to the ongoing climate crisis and to the environment. Many Australians are also confused about disposing of their unwanted clothes, with a large-scale Australian study finding a third of us throw them in the bin. Our aim is to provide a more considered and educated option whilst giving you the chance to update your wardrobe. Please bring up to SIX items of clothing in excellent condition for any size, age and gender. Excellent condition means clothing is clean, pressed and free from rips, holes, stains or major faults. Only bring items you would proudly give to a friend. Please bring each piece of clothing on a clothes hanger, if at all possible.
Items could include:
* Tops, shirts and blouses
* Pants, jeans and shorts
* Skirts, dresses and suits
* Jumpers, cardigans and jackets
* Belts, bags and shoes
* Scarves, ties and hats
We will not be accepting:
* Jewellery
* Underwear, socks and swimwear
* Sportswear, activewear and tracksuits
* Fast fashion
* Anything stained, torn or unclean
* Noticeably worn out, pilling, frayed, sweat stained, smelly, marked or far from perfect
So no fast fashion. Chain store garments in single (cotton, wool, silk, linen, bamboo, rayon, viscose, lyocell and modal) or blended natural fibres will be considered. All styles will be accepted, so keep in mind that items will range from on-trend pieces to older classics. We therefore can’t guarantee everyone who brings a designer item will take home an equivalent piece.
There are two swap opportunities, each with 50 spots available:
First Swap:
• Check-In/Drop-Off: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
• Swap: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Second Swap:
• Check-In/Drop-Off: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
• Swap: 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
The event contribution is $20 or more. Pay what you wish! All proceeds go to charity. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Places are limited so don’t miss this opportunity to swap, mingle, and maybe even find some hidden gems! Proceeds and unclaimed items will be donated to The Resilience Circle and Lou’s Place - both provide trauma informed and person-centred care to women facing issues such as domestic violence and homelessness.
* There is free parking on Plunkett Rd and the upper part of Coronation Avenue.
