MOTHERED - a play reading
Description
A play reading of work in development.
MOTHERED is a new theatre work in development exploring the complex and essential relationship we have with our mothers and motherhood. At a time when the voices of mothers, older women, mana whenua wāhine and migrant women remain underrepresented on our stages, this collection of monologues creates space for these stories to be seen and heard.
New writing, prose, poetry and verbatim, traversing some of the infinite permutations of our relationships to our mothers and of motherhood. From the mouths of babes, mouthy teenagers to our grandmothers.
Including the words of Jean Betts, Jacinda Ardern, Elisabeth Easther, Mitch Tawhi Thomas, Jamie McCaskill, Desiree Gezentsvey, Louise Wrighton and Sarah Boddy.
Recommended 13+. Contains mature themes and coarse language.
This is a ‘pay what you can’ performance.
