Mothers Meeting Mothers
Description
September 29 @ 6:30pm-8:30pm | Balam Balam Place Brunswick |
What is a women’s circle?
Along with regular Mothers Meeting Mothers host Josie Hipwell, in September she will be joined by Meg Rankin and Sanne Dijkema, to share about the history, experience, wisdom and ritual of women’s circles.
It will be a two hour gathering to explore what it means to sit in circle. We'll walk through the rituals, structures and small rhythms that shape a circle, how it opens, how it holds space, how it closes, so you leave with a real feel for the practice, not just the theory. Held gently by Sanne and Meg, this session is a chance to slow down, ask questions, and experience circle from the inside.
Who is this session for?
This session is for mothers, and anyone in the mother sphere. Whether you're pregnant, trying to conceive, a grandmother, or had your children a long time ago, this is a space for you. That's why we call it Many Mothers, it's for all the different stages and seasons of mothering.
Can I bring my children?
Evening sessions are suitable for babes in arms only. Unfortunately it's not suitable for children who are crawling or older, so please arrange care for little ones outside this age range if you can; our daytime sessions are all in, for all children, not matter their age.
What does it cost?
This session is free.
Is food provided?
There will be warm drinks and light snacks to share. You're always welcome to bring a plate to share too, but it's absolutely not required.
Who's hosting?
This session is hosted by Josie Hipwell with guest hosts Meg Rankin and Sanne Dijkema.
Meg is a women’s circle facilitator and Melbourne-based social worker and counsellor with over 20 years' experience, working from a strengths-based, trauma-informed lens. She believes Women's Circles are the ultimate space for meaningful connection, offering a safe place to speak freely without judgement or a need to be 'fixed.'
Sanne is a Melbourne-based postpartum doula, mother, and sister with a deep devotion to mother-centred care. Her own journey into motherhood, navigating pregnancy and birth far from family and community, sparked her passion for supporting others through this transition, and she's known for the gentle, glowing warmth she brings into every space she holds.
What should I bring?
Just yourself, and anything that helps you feel comfortable, a cushion, a blanket, or a journal if you like to reflect afterwards.
