    Event description

One of Rotary's greatest achievements has been spearheading the campaign to eliminate polio from the world.  Ridding the world of polio has been Rotary's key humanitarian priority since 1985.

When Rotary chose to accept the challenge to rid the world of Polio, there were over 1000 polio cases a day in 125 countries, paralysing and even killing children.

Today, the number of cases is down by 99.9% to just 12 cases in two countries in 2023.

Over the last almost 40 years, Rotary members, working with communities around the world, have contributed more than $3 billion and countless volunteer hours to the fight to end polio.

On Saturday morning, as part of this weekend's Rotary District Conference, Rotarians will be participating in a walk to end polio commencing at 8.00 am at the Railway Lands.

Members of the public are very welcome to participate in the walk.  There is no cost to participate though donations to end polio are very welcome.

Come and join visiting and local Rotarians and, if possible, wear red for the walk.
