What is the GYROKINESIS® movement method?

Developed by Juliu Horvath (previously as Yoga for Dancers), a former ballet principal with the Romanian National Ballet, the Gyrokinesis movement method addresses the entire body, by opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences, like those found in swimming, yoga, gymnastics, and tai chi.

Gyrokinesis movement stretches and strengthens muscles, while simultaneously stimulating and strengthening connective tissues in and around the joints of the body, as well as internal organs. Exercises, synchronized with corresponding breathing patterns, enhance aerobic and cardiovascular stimulation and promote neuromuscular rejuvenation. The uniqueness of the method is that it simultaneously stretches and strengthens the body with minimal effort, while increasing range of motion and developing coordination. Gyrokinesis movement is practiced on chair/stool and a mat.

By the end of a Gyrokinesis session, one's entire system is awakened and brought into greater balance. Focus on the breath stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system resulting in a sense of calm, well-being and mental clarity.

About your trainer:

Mien first discovered the Gyrokinesis movement method in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she was training in Argentine Tango. She has trained in Australia, Argentina, Germany and Italy with different master trainers. She is a certified trainer in both methods and in Gyrokinesis for tango applications. She is also a somatic integrative coach, clinical dance movement therapist and counsellor in training. She is excited for you to experience the Gyrokinesis movement method and its capacity for restoration, rejuvenation and greater freedom of expression in movement.
