Description

This November, at the foot of the Illawara Escarpment, ecstatic dance joins House of Saiso for an evening of guided by intuition and surrender.

With the workshop and movement guided by Yolanda Wu, and music mixed by Sammi Carr, we invite you to join us for an evening of movement and self expression, guided by a wave of experimental and genre-blended sound.

Together, we move from gentle stillness into a higher-energy crescendo, then return as one to a state of deep meditation and integration.

This is a space for intentional movement to guide self-expression, internal exploration and connection with self and the group, prioritising inclusion and freedom from judgement.

What to wear: Comfortable, breathable clothing for unrestricted movement.

This is an alcohol, drug, smoke-free event. There is a zero tolerance policy for discimination or anti-social behaviour of any kind.

We acknowledge that this event takes place on the stolen, unceded lands of the Wodi Wodi and Dharawal people who are the traditional custodians of the land, sky and waters of the Illawara. We acknowledge their elders both past and present. Ectstaic dance and healing through movement is a traditional practice of Indigenous communities across the globe; in a so-called Australian context, Corroboree ceremonies engage in storytelling through dance and song, to represent their sacred connection with country, culture and ancestral spirits. It is vital to acknowledge that Indigenous communtiies continue to exeprience ongoing violent colonial violence on a systemic level. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
