Movement Masterclass: Teaching Asana to the Modern Body

Yoga is an incredible practice, but the bodies walking into our classes today are shaped by a very different world. Our students bring years of movement history with them — hours spent sitting, repetitive habits, stress, previous injuries, and adaptations that influence the way they move.

This 3-hour online masterclass explores the body behind the asana and helps you understand why bodies move the way they do. We’ll explore movement patterns, how the body adapts, why compensation occurs, injury mechanisms, and the role of mobility, stability and strength in creating a more resilient practice — all while staying within your scope of practice as a yoga teacher.

We’ll look at how the demands of a practice interact with the capacity of the individual, why recovery requires more than simply resting until something feels better, and how a deeper understanding of the body can help us make more informed teaching decisions.

This is not about fear-mongering or suggesting yoga is wrong. It is about deepening our understanding of the human body, becoming a more skilled observer, and learning how to better support the students in front of us.

Designed for yoga teachers, teacher trainees and dedicated practitioners wanting to deepen their understanding of movement and the body behind the practice.
