Moving on Up - From Bookmaking to Writer's Notebook

Writer's Notebooks are the logical 'next step' for young writers who have flourished with the Bookmaking approach to teaching writing. In many ways, the transition from one to the other is a change of 'container' for the writing... the pedagogical approach remains the same. Educators do, however, have questions about moving from Bookmaking to Writer's Notebook, and in this workshop you will have the chance to:

Think about when and how to move some or all of your young writers from Bookmaking to Writer's Notebook
Consider the practical implications of this transition
Explore the possibilities (in planning) for your year of writing, incorporating the transition
Develop some strategies for ensuring that your young writers have agency in this process and remain engaged and motivated
