Moving to zero waste
Event description
A Recycling Hub collects small household items that cannot be placed in the kerbside recycling bin (yellow lid bin or wheelie bin). But can be recycled through specialist programs. This is a viable way to reduce landfill waste, educate the community and thrive to a more sustainable lifestyle and a less polluted planet.
We are excited to host this event at GeCo -Geeveston Community Centre- to empower and inspire more community members and change-makers by showcasing an innovative solution that demonstrates leading practice toward sustainability and reducing waste going to landfill.
About the facilitator
Mrs Milca Perez, a Sustainability Facilitator and consultant at Living Waratah, presents this workshop. Milca is kind to share her experience and insight running the first Community-led Recycling Unit in the Huon Valley, supported by the Dover and Far South Community Group- DASAG.
The successful project has collected 150 kilos of small and household waste in six months and received several recognitions from the field.
“Moving to ‘zero waste’ is not a competition. It is a community, planetary goal, and teamwork without judgement or guilt.” Milca
