Moving Water in Woodlands Park

We warmly invite you to a walk and talk event at the beautiful wetlands of Woodlands Park, where the concept of moving water takes centre stage. Join Jessica Gigliotti, Senior Landscape Architect from Moonee Valley City Council, as she guides us through this vital ecosystem.

Jess played a pivotal role in the design and implementation of the functional wetland, which not only collects and treats stormwater but also self-irrigates the park. She’ll explain how this innovative system supports local wildlife and prevents harmful pollutants from entering Five Mile Creek and Moonee Ponds Creek.

As we navigate the impacts of climate change, understanding how the dynamic movement of water contributes to the health and resilience of our environment is more important than ever. Jessica Gigliotti

Jessica is a Senior Landscape Architect in the City Design team at Moonee Valley City Council. She has extensive experience in wetland projects, masterplans and facilitating community consultation. Jessica will facilitate a discussion on the Stormwater Harvesting Project project at Woodlands Park completed by Moonee Valley City Council in partnership with Melbourne Water and Greater Western Water.

LOWER Maribyrnong Catchment: Water Think Tank

This is our first Lower Maribyrnong Catchment Water Think Tank. For the past 18 months we have been hosting an Upper Maribyrnong Catchment Water Think Tank. This upper catchment group is a network of people in the Maribyrnong who want to understand water and waterways and how they are managed. We are now activating a lower catchment group of people who also want to understand the complex field of water and waterways management. 

Government agencies manage waterways, but communities can raise questions, grapple with the dilemmas of water management and speak up for our creeks and river. First we need to understand how water is moved around. Our aim is to grow water literate communities throughout the catchment.
